Texas CE Requirements for License Renewal

As a nurse in the land of Texas, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license.

Renewal Requirements

Every two years
- 20 hours of continuing education in area of do
- 2 contact hours related to geriatric intendance for those who work with older adults
- human trafficking prevention course for whatever nurse who provides direct patient intendance
One-time requirement
- two hours related to forensic evidence collection for those who work in an emergency room setting
Every six years
- ii hours related to nursing jurisprudence and nursing ethics

LPN

Every two years
- 20 hours of continuing educational activity in area of practise
- 2 contact hours related to geriatric care for those who work with older adults
- human being trafficking prevention form for any nurse who provides directly patient intendance
Quondam requirement
- 2 hours related to forensic show collection for those who work in an emergency room setting

Advanced Do

Every 2 years
- 20 hours of continuing educational activity in area of practice

- 5 hours in pharmacotherapeutics for APRN with prescriptive authority

- *Whatsoever APRN whose practice includes the handling of tick-borne diseases is encouraged to participate in continuing education relating to the treatment of tick-borne diseases
One-fourth dimension requirement
- 2 hours related to forensic show collection for those who work in an emergency room setting
- two hours annually (4 hours every licensing period) related to approved procedures of prescribing and monitoring controlled substances for APRN licensed prior to September 1, 2020, and authorized to receive information from the Prescription Monitoring Program (must consummate no later than September i, 2021)
Every vi years
- 2 hours related to nursing jurisprudence and nursing ethics
Every year
- 2 60 minutes annually (4 hours every licensing period) regarding safety and constructive pain direction related to the prescription of opioids and other controlled substances for APRN who has entered into a prescriptive potency agreement authorizing the prescribing of opioids (applicable to licensure renewals on or after January ane, 2021)
- 1 hour (2 hours ever licensing perioed) that meets the requirements fix along by the Texas Pharmacy Board covering all-time practices, alternative treatment options, and multi-modal approaches to hurting management, for APRN whose do includes the prescription of opioids (only applicative to licensure renewals that occur between September 1, 2019 - August 31, 2023)
